As part of the annual Cops and Crêpes fundraiser, law enforcement volunteers and Special Olympics athletes will be working side-by-side with Cora restaurant staff – bringing customers tasty meals and asking them to leave donations for the worthy cause.
This is the third year that Cora Breakfast and Lunch and the Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run have partnered to raise money for the Special Olympics. Last year, approximately $12,000 was raised, and this year’s goal is to raise $15,000.
The Special Olympics were formed to give people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in organized sports training, recreation, and competitive activities. Today, 550 Edmonton athletes participate in 37 sport programs year-round.
