Officers responded to the area of Henry Avenue, near Hermitage Road, after receiving reports of a stolen vehicle attempt that led to an injury collision at approximately 6 a.m. that morning.
It is reported an adult male was making deliveries in the area when his vehicle was approached by a stolen Jeep Wrangler carrying four males. A youth male allegedly exited the Jeep and entered the mid-size car. Police believe the youth was attempting to steal the vehicle.
The adult male returned to his vehicle and the Jeep Wrangler attempted to flee the scene, striking both the youth male and adult male in the process. It is reported the Jeep then circled back and struck the adult male again, before a second youth male exited the Jeep and attacked the adult male with an edged weapon.
All four youths fled the scene in the Jeep. The adult male sustained serious injuries and was treated and transported to hospital.
Officers from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged four youth males in connection to the event. The youths cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The youths face a variety of charges, including attempt to commit murder (x2), aggravated assault (x2), criminal hit and run, attempted theft of motor vehicle, robbery, break and enter (x4), comit theft over $5,000 (x4) and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
