Suspicious death in northeast confirmed as homicide; autopsy complete and charges laid

The Edmonton Police Service has charged a woman in the most recent suspicious death that occurred in the city’s northeast earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015 at 6:55 p.m., police received a call for assistance at an apartment building in the area of 145 Avenue and 77 Street. When Northeast Division officers arrived, they found a male, Pragalthan Narainsamy Naidoo,73, deceased on scene. One person was taken into custody following the incident.

The individual taken into custody, Celina Jennifer Kelly, 51, has since been charged with 2^nd degree murder and possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offense.

An autopsy was completed yesterday (Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015). The cause of death will not be released at this time.

The court date for the accused is scheduled for January 5, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.

This is Edmonton’s 30^th homicide of 2015.
