Priest charged in connection with alleged historic sexual assaults

The Edmonton Police Service has charged an Anglican priest in connection to allegations of historical sexual assaults.

In September 2015, the Edmonton Police Service commenced an investigation into reports of sexual assaults that had allegedly occurred at the Edmonton Youth Development Centre during the 1980s.

It was reported that FatherGordon William Dominey sexually assaulted five complainants, who were youth at the time of the alleged incidents, while he was employed at the incarceration facility from 1985-89.

Police also believe there may be additional victims and witnesses. Investigators are asking anyone with information about “Father Gord” to come forward and contact the Edmonton Police Service.

The EPS arrested the accused without incident on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, in Coquitlam with the assistance of the Coquitlam RCMP.

Gordon William Dominey, 63, is facing charges of sexual assault (x5) and gross indecency (x5).
