Man wanted on warrant for 2011 homicide arrested in British Columbia

A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his connection to the 2011 homicide of an Edmonton man was arrested in British Columbia on Monday.

Gordon Shaw, 61, was charged with 2nd degree murder in August 2011 for the May 2011 death of Robert Anderson.

Shaw failed to attend court on Sept. 9, 2014 and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

Persistent work by the EPS Homicide Section led police to believe Shaw was living in Chase, British Columbia under the alias “Bob Stenton.” Further investigation revealed the accused had advertised himself as handyman “Bob the Builder” in the local newspaper.

Gordon Shaw was arrested in Chase, BC without incident by the Kelowna RCMP on Monday, Mar. 14, 2016. He appeared in Kamloops court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody.

Shaw will be transferred to Edmonton where he will await trial in the Court of Queen’s Bench.

The Edmonton Police Service is asking for the public’s help in locating a male wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with the 2011 death of an Edmonton resident.

Gordon Shaw was charged with 2nd degree murder in August 2011 regarding the May 2011 death of Robert Anderson, 70. The arrest was made in Port Alberni, BC.

Shaw failed to attend court on Sept. 9, 2014. He is believed to be of no fixed address and leads a transient lifestyle. Shaw has been known to spend time in British Columbia, specifically in the Okanagan area and Vancouver Island.

Shaw is a Caucasian male, 5’11” tall, 190 lbs., with dyed black hair and brown eyes. His appearance may have changed over time.

Aug. 22, 2011:

Gordon Shaw, 56, of no fixed address, has beencharged with 2nd degree murder regarding the May 2011 death of Edmonton resident, Robert Anderson, 70

EPS officers discovered Anderson’s body in his home at 65 Street and 128 Avenue on May 31, 2011, after concerned neighbours reported they had not seen or heard from him for several days.

The investigation led homicide detectives to Port Alberni, BC, where Shaw was arrested and charged on Aug. 19, 2011 with the assistance of Port Alberni RCMP.

The accused will make a brief appearance in Port Alberni court today, Aug. 22, 2011 and will then be transferred to Edmonton.
