Homicide detectives have charged Lenny Lavalee, 32, with numerous offences including first-degree murder in connection with the death of Nicole Leeanne Cooney early Monday morning.
TheMedical Examiner today confirmed that Nicole Leeanne Cooney, 30, died as a result of a gun-shot wound.
Lavalee is facing numerous charges including first-degree murder, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peaceandunauthorized possession of a firearm.
This is Edmonton’s 16th homicide of 2016.
Background:
Police were called around 12:30 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2016, in relation to a suspicious death in the area of 117 Avenue and 128 Street. Shortly after, police responded to a weapons complaint in the same area which was resolved around 5:30 a.m. Police now have one male suspect in custody.
