The Edmonton Police Service is seeking witnesses to an aggravated assault that left a man in his 20s with serious injuries over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 14, 2016, at approximately 7 a.m., a bystander walking their dog in the area of 69 Avenue and 172 Street located an unconscious male in a nearby wooded area.

West Division officers, along with EMS, responded to the scene and treated and transported the man to hospital, where he currently remains in serious, but stable condition.

“We are looking to speak with anyone who may have been in the area between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday morning,” said Det. Billy Countryman. “We are certain that someone out there has information that would help us identify and locate the person(s) responsible for this assault.”

It is believed the man who was located in the wooded area had been wearing a light green, full button-up shirt with beige khakis and red sneakers at the time he was assaulted. He was also wearing a black baseball cap, sunglasses and a blue backpack.

Anyone who has information about this assault, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
