A month-long investigation into more than 30 commercial break and enters in and around Edmonton has culminated in the arrest of a 39-year-old Edmonton man. Southwest Division detectives began their investigation into multiple commercial break and enters at hair salons, restaurants, dry cleaners and convenience stores, back in early April. In each of the incidents, the suspect allegedly broke in through a main door, robbed that business, before breaking through the walls and accessing adjoining businesses.

As the investigation progressed, Southwest Division detectives discovered similar break-and-enter crime sprees in southeast Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Stony Plain and the Town of Mayerthorpe, which appeared to all share a similar pattern.

On May 18th, investigators arrested and charged Daryl Saunter, 39, with a total of 26 B&E-related charges for the alleged Edmonton events.

Additional charges are pending by RCMP for the alleged incidents that occurred in Sherwood Park, Stony Plain and Mayerthorpe.

A significant number of resources were devoted to this investigation over the past month from EPS Southwest and Southeast divisions to Strathcona, Stony Plain and Mayerthorpe RCMP detachments.
