The EPS responded to a report of shots fired near Ozerna Road, between 69 Street and 165 Avenue, at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016. Northeast Division officers responded and found Gary Yemane, 63, lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased at the scene.
Homicide Section detectives are releasing information regarding vehicles seen in the area around the time of the shooting in hopes witnesses and citizens with information will contact police.
The first witness vehicle was seen in the area of Ozerna Road just before the shooting occurred. The vehicle is described as a black, four-door sedan with tinted windows – believed to be a Dodge Charger.
The Dodge Charger pictured above is a different vehicle than the black vehicle that was reportedly observed travelling southbound on Ozerna Road at the time of the incident (driven by an East Indian male in his late 20s or early 30s). Police are seeking information on both of these vehicles and occupants.
The second witness vehicle is dark-coloured car that was seen on Ozerna Road just after the shooting. It is reported the vehicle stopped one or two houses north of the scene and parked facing northbound on the east curb. Police believe one person exited the vehicle and walked in the direction of where the victim was found. Officers are looking to speak with this individual.
Police are also looking to speak with a woman who was wearing a light-coloured hijab and was driving a cream-coloured van or SUV. She allegedly spoke with other citizens at the scene after the shooting took place.
