At approximately 9 p.m., Northeast Division patrol officers responded to the report of shots fired in the area of 432 Brintnell Blvd. Upon arrival officers located a male and female, both in their mid-thirties, who had been shot.
Two black males were witnessed running from the area at the time and allegedly fled the scene in an older model minivan. Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen this vehicle and/or suspects in the area.
Shortly thereafter, officers located the same minivan and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The suspect vehicle refused to cooperate and proceeded to drive erratically to the area of 130 Avenue and 70 Street where shots were fired at police pursuing the minivan. Investigators are treating this area as the second scene.
At 130 Avenue and 86 Street two black males exited the minivan and fled the area on foot. Officers were able to track the suspects to a nearby field where they were apprehended.
Investigators believe the two males taken into custody are the same two suspects involved in the shooting on Brintnell Blvd. Police now believe there may have been additional suspect(s) in the minivan and are urging citizens who may have seen this vehicle to contact police.
The male and female who were shot remain in hospital. The woman’s condition is considered non-life-threatening and the male’s condition is described as life-threatening.
The two male suspects, aged 21 and 27, remain in police custody and will be facing a number of charges including attempted murder.
Police urge anyone with information from any of the three locations identified above, as well as its surrounding areas, to contact police immediately at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
