Composite sketch and video still released of Saskatchewan Drive assault suspect

The Edmonton Police Service is releasing a composite sketch and video still of a suspect connected to an alleged assault on Saskatchewan Drive last week.

Officers from Southwest Division responded to the area of 116 Street and Saskatchewan Drive after an assault allegedly occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016.

It is reported a woman was walking along Saskatchewan Drive when she was grabbed, choked to unconsciousness and dragged into the bushes north of the walking path. Bystanders approached to assist the woman and the man allegedly fled the area on foot.

The woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries sustained during the assault. She has since been released from hospital.

The suspect has been described as a dark-skinned male, 23-35 years of age, approximately 5’7” to 5’11” tall with short, black hair, a thin, black beard and average to stocky build. He is pictured in the video still below, captured from a camera in the area.

The suspect reportedly wore dark pants, a white or grey tank top with blue trim and a design on the front, a red zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white piping, black footwear and red and black Chicago Bulls baseball hat, pictured below.

The Edmonton Police Service continues to investigate the alleged assault; detectives are looking to speak with anyone who has information regarding the suspect or incident.
