On Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, just before 1 a.m., the Edmonton Police Service responded to a single vehicle collision. A vehicle was travelling westbound on the Anthony Henday where it lost control just east of 91 Street, entered the centre median and rolled into the eastbound lanes.
Police found a 27-year-old female on the roadway that was ejected from a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. EMS treated and transported the female to hospital where she died.
Police continue to investigate and believe the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol may be a factor in the collision.
This is the 17th traffic fatality in Edmonton this year.
