Downtown Division patrol officers of the Edmonton Police Service charged a woman Wednesday night after a dog was allegedly used as a weapon during an altercation.
Around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2013, police attended the area of 118 Avenue and 101 Street after receiving a complaint. It was reported to police that a Pitbull had been released by a woman during a verbal altercation between the woman and four strangers (three men and a female) who had gathered in the area.
Officers discovered a 34-year-old woman with minor injuries. A Pitbull dog was found and seized by Animal Care and Control officers.
"The information provided through witness accounts supported the evidence and the charge against the accused," says Const. Josh MacLeod, Downtown Division.
Courtney Vye, 31, of Edmonton, is charged with assault with a weapon.
