Southwest Division officers responded to the collision call at approximately 7:35 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 25.
Upon arrival, police found a 16-year-old female lying in the middle of the road on 178 Street near Archbishop Oscar Romero High School.
Witnesses told police the girl was crossing the road when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla being driven by a 55-year-old female driver.
Paramedics treated and transported the teen girl to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.
The investigation is still in its preliminary stages, and thus it is unknown whether the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road at a marked crosswalk.
No charges are pending at this time.
Motorists travelling in the area are asked to find alternative routes until further notice, as 178 Street between 69 and 76 avenues remains closed for investigative purposes.
