Police investigate traffic fatality in northeast Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigation Section is investigating a collision which claimed the life of a man early this morning.

On Thursday, April 20, 2017 at approximately 9 a.m., Northeast Division patrol officers responded to a collision between an ETS bus and a motorcycle in the area of 97 Street and 157 Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a deceased male.

 

Investigators believe the ETS bus was travelling northbound on 97 Street and attempting to make a right hand turn onto 157 Avenue, when it was allegedly struck from behind by a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was a 24-year-old male who was declared deceased on scene by EMS.

 

Major Collision Investigation Section believes speed was a factor in this fatal collision. They continue to investigate.


This is Edmonton’s sixth traffic fatality of 2017.
