Police charge three men in homicide of Ian Janvier

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has charged three men in relation to the shooting death of Ian Janvier, 28, earlier this year.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, police responded to a weapons complaint just after 6:45 a.m. in the area of 110 Avenue and 84 Street. Several residents had reported hearing gunshots.

 

Upon arrival, police located Janvier who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. EMS treated and transported him to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Devin Robert Carlton, 26, is charged with second-degree murder, careless use of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm in a vehicle (x2) and possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking.



Robert Michael Hill, 27, is charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession prohibited firearm in a vehicle (x2), possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking and assault with a weapon.

 

Joshua Ted Calliou, 26, is charged withcareless use of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited firearm in a vehicle (x2), possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking and intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless to the life or safety of another person (x2).


Investigators do not believe this was a random incident.
