Young woman sexually assaulted in north end

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman that occurred Nov. 18, 2013, in the city’s north end.

At approximately 8 p.m. Monday evening, Northeast Division Patrol members responded to a 911 call for help regarding an alleged sexual assault. The complainant told police she been assaulted near 97 Street and 134 Avenue, only minutes after stepping off an ETS bus.

The suspect is reported to have approached the young woman from behind, before jumping on her and throwing her to the ground. The young woman fought off her attacker, who was tearing at her clothing, then ran to a nearby residence where she sought refuge.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, between 25 and 40 years old, about six feet tall, heavy build and weighing between 230-240 pounds. He is described as having a deep voice (no accent) and was wearing a black ski mask (balaclava) with holes around his mouth and eyes, at the time of the assault.
 
The suspect was also wearing dark-coloured winter clothing. The jacket may have had a different coloured body and sleeves.
