The Edmonton Police Service has charged a 32-year-old man in relation to a fatal collision that occurred in September 2017.

On Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 Southeast Division patrol officers responded to a report of a collision at approximately 11 p.m. in the area of Parsons Road just south of the Anthony Henday overpass.

Upon arrival, EPS officers found a deceased male motorcyclist lying in the middle of Parsons Road and a vehicle resting in a ditch on the east side of Parsons Road.

Following a thorough investigation, the EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit believes that the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was travelling southbound on Parsons Road when it crossed the centre line and collided with the northbound 2014 Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle.

The 29-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene. The 32-year-old male driver of the Malibu did not sustain any injuries.

Speed was considered a factor in this collision.

The driver of the Malibu, Balwinder Chatha, 32, has since been charged with criminal negligence causing death.
