The Edmonton Police Service is releasing footage of a vehicle of interest in the hopes that it will help identify a suspect in an alleged attempted abduction that occurred on April 10.

On Tuesday, Apr. 10, 2018 at approximately 12 p.m., a group of four female grade six students at Florence Hallock School were walking on school grounds during lunch hour recess, when an unknown male sitting in his parked vehicle reportedly waved at them. The male allegedly exited his vehicle, approached one of the girls and grabbed her hand. The girl reportedly broke free from the male, who then allegedly fled the area in his vehicle. The four students reported the incident to a staff member at the school, who took a cell phone video of the suspect vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9”, of average build, with a short white or gray beard. He is believed to be in his 30s and was reportedly wearing a black baseball cap, sunglasses and a dark coloured shirt or vest with green sleeves. The vehicle is described as a dirty black truck with a crew cab and short box.

Investigators are working closely with school administrators, and staff and parents have been advised of the alleged incident. Parents are reminded to talk to their children to ensure they remain vigilant and tell a trusted adult right away if they are approached by a stranger.

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
