Police issue warrants for alleged suspect in fatal hit-and-run collision

The Edmonton Police Service has issued several Canada-wide warrants for an alleged suspect wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in November 2017.

Jiduo Luo, 23, of Xiamen, China is wanted on Canada-wide warrants for manslaughter, impaired driving causing death, impaired driving over 80 mgs% causing death, failure to stop at an accident causing death or bodily harm, impaired care or control of a vehicle, care or control of a vehicle over 80 mgs%, failure to appear for identification and failure to appear for court.

 

Luo was reportedly attending multiple post-secondary institutions in Edmonton and witnesses reported Luo as the driver of a blue 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer that is alleged to be involved in the fatal collision.

 

Police believe Luo left Canada shortly after the collision and may currently be residing in China. 

 

Luo is described as 5’6” tall, weighing 130 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes. Photos of Luo are included below.

Background

At approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 Northwest Division officers responded to a collision in the area of 111 Avenue and 96 Street. It was reported that a dark coloured vehicle struck a cyclist in the intersection and then fled the scene eastbound on 111 Avenue.


EMS responded, treated and transported the 38-year-old male cyclist to hospital with life-threatening injuries.  He succumbed to his injuries in hospital a short time later.
