Homicide detectives previously determined the manner of death a homicide.
As stated in a news release issued on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, police have confirmed that the shooting at Ellerslie Road and 96 Street and the burned Jeep Cherokee just southwest of Beaumont are connected.
Police are urging anyone with a business or residential surveillance camera located in the area identified on the map below to check for footage of a newer model white Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the area between 5:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018. Citizens are asked to call police if their surveillance cameras have captured this footage.

Background:
At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018, Southeast Division patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Ellerslie Road and 96 Street. When officers arrived, they located an injured 21-year-old male in a parking lot.
EMS treated and transported the male to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early in the morning on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.
