Elderly pedestrian succumbs to injuries following collision

The 78-year-old man who sustained life-threatening injuries after being stuck by a vehicle Saturday morning, succumbed to his injuries in hospital yesterday.

Northeast Patrol members responded to a roadway under construction near Fort Road and just south of 129 Avenue, at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 04, 2018, after receiving a 911 call regarding a collision.

 

It was reported to police that the elderly male was attempting to cross Fort Road travelling from the east side of the northbound lanes to the west side of the southbound lanes, when he was struck in the outer southbound lane by a 2014 White Mazda CX5 being driven by a 24-year-old female.

 

Paramedics treated and transported the male to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018.

 

The EPS Major Collision Investigation Section continues to investigate. No charges have been laid at this time.
