Charges laid in assault on ETS driver

The Edmonton Police Service has laid charges against a youth following a serious assault on an ETS driver yesterday morning.

A 15-year-old male is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public and theft of a motor vehicle in relation to this incident.

 

The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

No further information is available for release.

 

Background

 

At approximately 3:40 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, Southeast Division patrol officers responded to the Mill Woods Transit Centre on Hewes Way on the report of an assault.

 

Upon arrival, officers located a 65-year-old male ETS bus driver who had sustained multiple injuries. The driver was treated and transported to hospital by EMS, where his injuries are described as serious, but non-life-threatening.

 

Police arrested a 15-year-old male on scene.
