At approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning, Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, West Division officers responded to the report of an assault with a weapon at a residence in the area of 214 Street and Breckenridge Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 49-year-old female. EMS responded, but the woman succumbed to her injuries on scene.
A 53-year-old male believed to be involved in this incident turned himself in to police at approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning. He remains in custody and charges are pending. Officers are not looking for any additional suspects.
Investigators believe the male and female were known to one another and that this was a domestic violence incident.
An autopsy has yet to be scheduled.
No further information is available at this time, as Homicide Section continues to investigate.
