Traffic Section investigating serious pedestrian collision

The EPS is investigating a serious pedestrian collision that occurred this morning in west Edmonton.

At approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, West Division police officers responded to the report of a collision in the area of Stony Plain Road and 215 Street (Winterburn Road). Witnesses reported to police that a loaded semi-trailer dump truck travelling westbound on Stony Plain Road struck a pedestrian who stepped in front of the vehicle near the 215 Street over pass.

 

EMS responded, treated and transported the 32-year-old male pedestrian to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains. The 55-year-old male driver of the truck was not injured.

 

Officers closed Stony Plain Road westbound at 215 Street briefly this morning to investigate the collision. The semi-trailer dump truck remained at the scene.

 

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section has since taken over the investigation. There is no additional information available at this time.
