The Edmonton Police Service has laid 31 charges against three people following a months-long investigation.
On Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, EPS Northeast Beats concluded a six-month investigation into a drug trafficking ring. The investigation culminated in the execution of search warrants at three different locations in Edmonton, and resulted in the seizure of three firearms, one of which was stolen, several replica handguns, ammunition, $3,300 cash, 26.5g of methamphetamine and 7.8g of fentanyl.
Kenneth Saunders, 35, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019. He faces 18 charges, including trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of proceeds of crime and 13 firearms related offences.
Corey Landry, 30, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, and faces 10 charges, including trafficking (x2), possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2), possession of proceeds of crime and multiple breaches.
Monique Gardner, 40, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, and charged with trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2).
“This successful conclusion was the result of excellent teamwork between a number of specialized units across the EPS,” says Sgt. Daniel Tames, with Northeast Division Beats. “We’re pleased that our team was able to make these arrests and remove firearms, ammunition and a quantity of drugs from our community last week.”
