Police investigate apartment building fire in west Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating an apartment building fire that occurred in west Edmonton early this morning.

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019 at approximately 9:40 a.m. EPS and Edmonton Fire Rescue were called to the report of a fire at an apartment building in the area of 124 Street and 111 Avenue. The fire was reported by an off-duty firefighter that was in the area at the time.

 

Emergency responders were able to evacuate the building and no injuries related to the fire were reported. A 61-year-old male resident of the building was treated and transported to hospital by EMS with injuries believed to be unrelated to the fire. He remains in hospital in stable condition at this time.

 

Edmonton Fire Rescue and the EPS Arson Unit continue to investigate and have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
