After successfully completing their EPS academic training, Recruit Training Class 146 now moves into field training, where they will have an operational role supporting patrol divisions across the city.
The members of Class 146 come from diverse backgrounds, but they share the common desire to become police officers. They bring skills and experiences from previous jobs in the armed forces, security, corrections, social services, health care, business, trades, music, and sports.
While each recruit training class is unique, this is the first time that a brother and sister are graduating together.
Graduating from Recruiting Training Class 146 are 28 officers (18 male, 10 female), as well as two canine teams (PSD Frodo, PSD Gando) that recently completed their Dog Master Training Class.
Their formal graduation ceremony marks an important milestone in their policing careers that will be long remembered.
The ceremony is filled with pride and tradition, and includes a formal procession by the EPS Honour Guard, performances by the EPS Pipes and Drums and the EPS Chorus, flag and marching drills, and comments from EPS members and special guests. Graduates receive their diplomas, as well as awards for demonstrating excellence throughout their training.
Participating in the graduation ceremony are Acting Police Chief Kevin Brezinski, MLA Brad Rutherford, Deputy Mayor Mohinder Banga, and Edmonton Police Commission Chair Tim O’Brien.
Members of the public are invited to join graduates and their family and friends at the ceremony.
