Driver identified

The Edmonton Police Service has identified a driver involved in a collision that took place last week in west Edmonton.

On Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, the EPS issued a media release seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a driver involved in a collision in the La Perle neighbourhood on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020.

The male driver has since been identified and was issued a violation for backing up unsafely under the Use of the Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation of the Traffic Safety Act.

The EPS would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.

Background

On Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, a two-vehicle collision in the La Perle neighbourhood was reported to police.  At approximately 6 p.m. that day, two vehicles, a truck and an SUV, were reportedly parked at a shopping complex in the area of 182 Street and 97 Avenue when the truck allegedly backed into the SUV and drove away westbound on 97A Avenue.  The estimated damage to the SUV is approximately $10,000.
