The body of 40-year-old Huran Baran has been recovered and the EPS Homicide Section has charged a man in relation to his death. Baran was last seen on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020 and was reported missing by his family. At the time of his disappearance, he was operating a red 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 and was last seen at a restaurant in the area of 133 Street and 137 Avenue. On Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, the EPS issued a news release in relation to Baran’s disappearance.
As a result of information obtained through the missing persons investigation, police conducted a search in the area of 48 Street and Millwoods Road South where they located the red Dodge Ram Baran had been driving. Baran’s body was located inside the vehicle with obvious injuries. Police believe the vehicle had been parked at the location since the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 23.
An autopsy was completed yesterday, Wednesday, Jan. 29, and the cause of Baran’s death was a result of sharp force injuries. The manner of death has been deemed homicide.
Homicide investigators have since charged Tristan Taschuk, 30, with second-degree murder in relation to Baran’s death.
Police are not looking for any additional suspects but are asking anyone who may have witnessed the activities of the red Dodge Ram in the area of 48 Street and Millwoods Road South in the early morning hours of Thursday, Jan. 23, to contact police.
