Three thieves are facing multiple charges thanks
in part to some observant citizens who contacted police, after witnessing them involved
in the theft of a catalytic converter this morning. [No text in field]
On Feb. 4, 2020, at approximately 5:25 a.m., Southeast Division patrol members responded to a theft complaint in progress outside of a residence near 13 Avenue and 56 Street. It was reported to police that two witnesses had observed a male suspect cutting something off from under a parked vehicle.
The witnesses then followed the suspect vehicle, a Ford F150 truck, until patrol officers were able to intercept it near Highway 21 and Highway 14.
Three occupants of the vehicle were then taken into custody. A subsequent search of the Ford F150 truck yielded several cutting saws and 10 catalytic converters. Investigators estimate the cost to replace and repair the 10 vehicles to be approximately $33,000 ($3,000 per vehicle).

Police continue to investigate in an attempt to identify the owners of the 10 vehicles targeted.
