At approximately 8:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 4, 2020, police responded to the report of a collision involving a school bus and pedestrian. Upon arrival, police located a 12-year-old youth who had been struck by a school bus.
Investigators believe the youth was travelling eastbound across Castle Downs Road NW, at 162 Avenue, in a crosswalk when he was struck by a bus turning left onto Castle Downs Road NW. The 12-year-old was treated and transported to hospital by paramedics with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police remained on scene most of the morning conducting their investigation, while also redirecting traffic.
No charges have been laid at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
