Sexual Assault Section investigating reported assault in the river valley

The Edmonton Police Service Sexual Assault Section is investigating an attempted sexual assault that took place in Mill Creek Ravine late yesterday morning.

On Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., a 63-year-old female was walking northbound on a Mill Creek Ravine trail in the area of 97 Street and 92 Avenue. As she passed a lone male, he followed her, grabbed her from behind and pulled her towards the shrubbery.The female resisted, and the suspect fled the scene. At this time, investigators believe the attack was sexually motivated.

The suspect is described as a 25-30-year-old male, with dark hair. He was reportedly wearing a dark hoodie and burgundy pyjama pants.  A map of the approximate location where the incident took place is included below.

Detectives with the EPS Sexual Assault Section continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have information about this incident or the suspect to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone.
