Police seek public's assistance locating female prisoner at large

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 22-year-old female inmate who escaped from the Edmonton Institution for Women in west Edmonton late yesterday evening.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, Cierra Childress, 22, reportedly climbed over a fence at the facility, located at 111 Avenue and 178 Street, and fled the area on foot. Officers with West Division, Northwest Division and the EPS Canine Unit responded to the area but were unable to locate her. She was last seen running eastbound in the area of 170 Street and 114 Avenue and remains at large at this time.

Childress is described as approximately 5’5” tall and 170 pounds with black hair and black eyes.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Cierra Childress is asked to immediately contact police. If seen, she should not be approached.
