Police seek assistance identifying male in Dec. 8 homicide investigation

Homicide investigators are looking for tips about the identity of a male observed near the scene of a Dec. 8 homicide. 

The male was observed on security footage to have been in the area of 109 Avenue between 106 and 109 Street, between 2:30 and 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020.

The male is not a suspect at this time. Police are looking to identify him so they can speak with him, as he was in the area at the time of the homicide and may have information that could assist investigators.

  

The male in question may be associated to a black SUV that was in the area at the same time.

Background

At approximately 3 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2020, Downtown Division officers responded to a weapons complaint in the area of 109 Street and 109 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a male lying injured in the street. Paramedics responded to the scene, but the man was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy completed on Dec. 9, 2020 determined that Mahad Bashir Farah, 25, died as a result of a gunshot wound and confirmed his death a homicide.
