Afternoon collision results in fatality

Police are seeking witnesses after an 86-year-old male died following a Friday afternoon collision in the area of 127 Street and 135 Avenue.

Around 2 p.m., May 24, 2013, a black 2006 Jeep Cherokee being driven by a 21-year-old male collided in the intersection with a dark red 2002 Buick Century being driven by the male victim. Police shut down all lanes of traffic in the area from approximately 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.  

The Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigative Unit is leading the investigation. Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the collision.

The results of the investigation will determine whether charges are laid.
