Police seeking additional information in Bird homicide

Homicide Detectives would like to speak with an individual who they believe may have information pertinent to the investigation of the homicide of Shane Bird.

The EPS is releasing video and asking the person pictured in the video – or anyone who knows who this individual is - to contact police at 780-423-4567or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm

The male in the video was walking eastbound, towards 116 Street and Jasper Avenue, just before 1 a.m. on June 3.

 

Background:

A 16-year-old male has been charged with second degree murder and possession of a weapon in relation to the death of Shane Bird, 18, earlier this week.

 

The 18-year-old male was fatally wounded early Monday, June 3, 2013, on 114 Street north of Jasper Avenue. Downtown Division officers arrived on scene in less than two minutes and came to the aid of Bird, however he died in hospital shortly after arrival.

 

The Medical Examiner determined Bird’s death was the result of stab wounds.

 

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is not looking for any additional suspects.
