Missing male located deceased

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating the suspicious death of a missing male who was located in Lac. St. Anne County in mid-September.

On Monday, Sept 13, 2021, at approximately 5 p.m., Mayerthorpe RCMP responded to the discovery of human remains near Range Road 43, north of Township Road 560.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Officer completed an autopsy on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, and the cause of death is pending further testing. The manner of death remains suspicious at this time. Working closely with the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU), EPS Homicide detectives have since confirmed the deceased to be missing male, Donald Blizzard, 43.

EPS Homicide Section is now leading this investigation and detectives are asking anyone with information about Blizzard to please contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Background Information

On Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, the Edmonton Police Service issued a media release seeking the public’s assistance in locating Donald Blizzard, who was reportedly last seen at 11 a.m. at the Clareview LRT station (48 Street and 139 Avenue) on Thursday, July 22, 2021. It was also reported to police that he may have been in the areas of 114 Avenue and 38 Street and Jasper Avenue and 101 Street later in the day on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

Blizzard’s disappearance was considered out of character, but there were no indications to suggest foul play at the time.
