The Edmonton Police Service has charged a
19-year-old woman in relation to the homicide of a male in south Edmonton late
last week.
At approximately 5:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, Southwest Division officers responded to the report of an assault at a residence in the area of 109 Street and 67 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located an injured 43-year-old male and provided first aid. The male was then transported to hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, and determined that Heath Alook, 43, died as a result ofa stab wound.The manner of death is homicide.
Shanay Bigstone, 19, was located nearby and taken into custody. She has since been charged with second degree murder.
Investigators have confirmed the two are known to one another. No further information is being released at this time.
