On Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, Morinville RCMP found human remains after extinguishing a fire on an oil lease site in the area of Township Road 580 between Range Road 243 and Range Road 244.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Officer completed an autopsy on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, and the cause of death is being withheld for investigative purposes. The manner of death is homicide. Working closely with the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU), EPS Homicide detectives have since confirmed the deceased to be missing male, Cody Sinclair, 30.

Background Information
On Saturday, Nov. 20, and Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, the Edmonton Police Service issued media releases seeking the public’s assistance locating Cody Sinclair, who was initially reported missing on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021. Sinclair was reportedly last seen on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, after being released from the Royal Alexandra Hospital (10240 Kingsway Avenue NW) at approximately 10:30 p.m. Investigators later learned he was also seen in the Prince Charles neighbourhood on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021. Police have no other evidence of life since this date.
Sinclair’s disappearance was considered out of character at the time, and family, friends and police were concerned for his safety and wellbeing.
