At approximately 1:30 a.m. today, Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, EPS Downtown Branch patrol members responded to a reported assault at a shelter near 100 Street and 105A Avenue.
Upon arrival, paramedics had commenced life-saving measures on a 54-year-old male, before transporting him to hospital. The male succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter while in hospital.
Homicide Section detectives have since taken over the investigation, and witness interviews are ongoing, at this time.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022.
