Andrew has been in custody since Jan. 25, 2022, after being charged with aggravated assault and associated weapons offences in relation to the stabbing. Her charges were upgraded to second degree murder after Rich succumbed to her injuries on Feb. 2, 2022. The two women were known to one another.
Andrew’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2022.
Background
At approximately 7:23 p.m. on Jan. 25, 2022, police responded to the report of a stabbing in the area of 101 Avenue and 120 Street. The victim, Natasha Rich, 47, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, to which she succumbed on Wednesday Feb. 2, 2022.
An autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, confirmed the cause of death to be sharp force injury. The manner of death is homicide.
