Upon arrival, officers took the male into custody on outstanding warrants. Prior to placing the accused into the police vehicle, officers conducted a search of the suspect at which time a confrontation occurred. While attempting to gain control of the male, the two officers and the male reportedly fell to the ground.
Officers took the 26-year-old male to hospital for assessment and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was later charged with failure to comply with a probation order (x2) and resisting a peace officer. The officers were not injured.
As a result of the injury sustained by the suspect, the Director of Law Enforcement was notified and has since directed ASIRT to lead the investigation into this incident. As such, the EPS will not be providing further comment.
