Two men charged in drug trafficking investigation

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged two Edmonton men with drug trafficking after an investigation spanning the past several months.

In December 2021, EPS, in collaboration with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), entered into a drug trafficking investigation. 

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, police executed search warrants on multiple suites at a multi-unit residence in the Saddleback neighbourhood and seized the following:

1 shotgun
2 kgs of cocaine
17 kgs of a buffing agent
1 lb of psilocybin mushrooms
15 cartons of contraband cigarettes
$29,055.00 in Canadian currency
Nunchucks and brass knuckles

Mark Mallo, 40, is charged with trafficking a controlled substance (x3), Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2), proceeds of crime under $5000, proceeds of crime over $5000, possession of a prohibited / restricted weapon (x3), possession of a firearm knowing possession unauthorized, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition readily accessible, possession of a firearm knowing serial number is altered / defaced, removed, and possession of a controlled substance.

Alexander Garneau, 38, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2).
