At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, police responded to the report of a shooting in the area of 103 Street and 103 Avenue. While conducting traffic control for the hockey game, EPS members witnessed a male discharge a firearm multiple times at an unidentified male. Two males then reportedly attempted to flee the area on foot but were quickly pursued by officers and taken into custody moments later in the area of 103A Street and 103 Avenue. A firearm was located on the ground nearby, and following a search incident to arrest, ammunition and drugs were also located on one of the arrested males.
No injuries were reported by any citizens who were in the area following the hockey game. Officers continue to search for the unidentified male thought to be the target of the shooting.
A 19-year-old male remains in police custody at this time and is facing multiple charges. The other male has since been released without charges.
Investigators have determined the recovered firearm was stolen. This event is not believed to be linked to the hockey game.
