Charges laid in May shooting

The Edmonton Police Service has laid charges in relation to a shooting that took place in downtown Edmonton in May.

Just after midnight on Thursday, May 19, 2022, Downtown Branch Patrol officers responded to a shooting in the area of 101 Avenue and 104 Street. It was reported that two males exited a nearby business, and, following a disagreement, one of the men shot the other and fled the scene. A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On July 18, 2022, the EPS Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) arrested Jermaine Steinhauer, 26 and charged him with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent (x2), possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition,possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, carrying a concealed weapon,possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
