Charges have been laid in the death of a female in southwest Edmonton.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022, Southwest Branch patrol members responded to a check on welfare request at a residence in the area of Ramsay Crescent and 43 Avenue.
Upon arrival, police discovered Dagmar Petersen, 85, deceased inside the residence. The death was deemed suspicious at the time, and Homicide Section took over the investigation.
On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Petersen. The cause of death was a blunt force head injury, and the manner of death was homicide.
On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Vini Buecken, 64, was charged with second degree murder.
