The Edmonton Police Service has arrested a 32-year-old male in connection to a 2013 historical homicide investigation. On June 5, 2013, the body of Ivan Stamp, 31, was discovered in a wooded area located behind a religious institution near 68 Avenue and 170 Street in west Edmonton. At that time, the Edmonton Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma with the manner of death being homicide.

Numerous interviews and various avenues of investigation were undertaken, however, the case remained unsolved. The investigation was eventually transferred to the EPS Historical Crimes Section as a cold case and reopened in 2021. Additional evidence was subsequently discovered leading investigators to a suspect.

“A team of investigators from Historical Crimes Section and Investigative Support Services vigorously pursued this investigation to gather additional evidence, explained Staff Sgt. James Vanderland, of the EPS Historical Crimes Section/Missing Persons Unit. “It’s important to be able to bring those individuals responsible for such heinous crimes to justice. I personally worked as a task investigator on this file back in 2013, so I'm hopeful this arrest will  bring some level of comfort to Mr. Stamp’s loved ones after all of these years.”

EPS investigators have since charged Edward Steven Robinson, 32, with second degree murder.
