Autopsy results confirm male died from gunshot wound

Autopsy results into the death of a 36-year-old male early Sunday morning have confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Tuesday into the death of Ahmed Mohamed, 36, of Edmonton. The autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound with the manner of death being homicide.

Background:
At approximately 4:45 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint at a suite near 103 Street and 106 Avenue. Upon arrival, EPS| members found a 23-year-old male suffering from serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics treated and transported the male to hospital.


While at the suite, EPS officers were directed to a secondary scene, a convenience store, near 104 Street and 107 Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found Mohamed in the parking lot in medical distress suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries. The male succumbed to his injuries on scene shortly thereafter.
