At approximately 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, Downtown Branch patrol officers responded to a reported sudden death at a residence in the area of 107 Avenue and 106 Street. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male.
On Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on the deceased, identified as Ronald Bell, 70, and determined the manner of death is homicide. For investigative reasons, the cause of death is being withheld at this time.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate and are seeking information on Mr.Bell’s truck which has yet to be located. The black 2011 GMC Sierra truck, Alberta license plate 77N 728, was last seen on video departing the alley between 106 Street and 107 Street and driving west on 107 Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022. Investigators are also hoping to speak with anyone who lived at or visited Mr. Bell’s residence on or about Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022.
“While our investigation has accounted for the whereabouts of some of the individuals associated to the residence during this time, others have yet to be located,” says Det. Jared Buhler with the EPS Homicide Section. “We are asking the people who were living or visiting Mr. Bell’s home at this time and with whom we have not already spoken, to please come forward to police immediately.”
Additionally, detectives are asking any area residents or people who attended the residence that noticed activity at the front or rear of the home between Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, and Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, to contact police.
